AI gets more capable. The controls have to keep up.
This week’s announcements point to a practical shift: companies are building the permissions, workflows and specialized tools that let AI take on more everyday work. Investors are backing security, benefits administration, clinical search and electronics design, while Microsoft, GitHub, IBM and Oracle expand how teams use agents.
Here’s who raised, who launched, who’s hiring and who’s making moves.
Raised
$517M across the five Series A, B and C rounds below. The total excludes Circuit Mind’s earlier seed funding and Luxor’s mixed primary and secondary transaction. Announcements checked October 29.

Upwind
$400M Series C
Bessemer Venture Partners led the round for cloud and AI security. The company plans to expand its product and engineering teams as businesses put more AI workloads into production.

Infisical
$40M Series B
Elad Gil led the round for software that manages credentials, certificates and access. The company is investing further in Agent Vault, which lets AI agents use sensitive systems without exposing the underlying credentials.

Avante
$30M Series A
Frist Cressey Ventures led the round for AI tools that help employers manage benefits. Avante plans to expand globally and use agents to monitor programs, flag problems and connect information across benefits providers.

Vera Health
$28.5M Series A
Threshold Ventures led the round for a clinical AI search tool that helps clinicians find and evaluate medical evidence. The funding will support product development and partnerships with medical societies, publishers and health systems.

Circuit Mind
$18.5M Series A
Norwest led the round for AI-assisted circuit-board design and verification. The broader $25M announcement includes a previously unannounced seed round. Plans include a U.S. headquarters and growth across engineering, sales and customer success.

Luxor Technology
$16M strategic transaction
CMT Digital led this financing for AI compute trading and hardware services. It includes both new investment and sales by existing shareholders, so the full amount is not new cash to the company.
Launched
Microsoft
A shared foundation for business agents
Microsoft is making its Copilot harness available through Foundry and an SDK. It supplies the execution environment and controls around AI models, so developers can build agents that use tools and carry out longer tasks.

GitHub
Copilot Fusion chooses models for the task
Now generally available, Fusion can route work between models and have them review each other’s output. Users choose an effort level; administrators control which models are allowed. Usage is billed for the models it uses.

GitHub
Agentic Workflows moves into general availability
Teams can describe recurring work such as issue triage, documentation updates and test writing in Markdown, then run it through GitHub Actions. Agents run with read-only permissions by default, with checks on proposed changes.

GitHub
Replica turns product ideas into prototypes
This new open-source tool lets designers, product managers and engineers build interactive prototypes using their own design system. It works with natural-language requests in the Copilot app and can be adapted to a team’s existing components.

IBM + HashiCorp
Identity and permissions for AI agents
Agent Identity and Vault 2.2 are generally available, giving companies ways to record who owns an agent and limit its access. Other announced tools, including agent discovery and containment, remain in technology preview.

Oracle + OpenAI
New tools for everyday business workflows
Oracle announced AI Workspace, App Composer and security tools built around OpenAI technology. The aim is to connect ChatGPT and coding tools with approved business data and operations. Availability and terms depend on the product and bundle.

Anthropic
Files for a proposed IPO
Anthropic filed its S-1 registration statement and said it intends to list on Nasdaq under ANT. Its announcement did not set a share count or price range. A filing is a step toward an offering, not a completed IPO.

Anthropic
Acquires Mithril Medicine
Anthropic acquired the small drug-development company and described research work with six partner organizations. Most reported results are still preclinical. The work explores how Claude can help organize research and experiments; it does not establish that treatments work in people.

Oracle + Google
Google TPUs are coming to Oracle Cloud
The companies announced that Google’s AI accelerators will be offered through Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Availability is planned for 2027, followed by a rollout over multiple years, giving customers another option for training and running models.
